Mongraal is the first legend of the growing NFT gaming space. The pro gamer and fortnite streamer burst onto the Web3 scene by winning Yuga Lab’s Dookey Dash competition in February 2023. After winning the tournament, Mongraal shrewdly sold the grand prize, an NFT of a golden key, for a whopping $1.6m.
Despite his young age, Mongraal has already had an impressive gaming career. The UK-born teen first gained attention at the age of 13 when Team Secret signed him to a professional contract. At the time, this set a record for the youngest Fortnite player to ever be signed to a pro eSports team.
His main focus early on was Epic Games’ smash hit Fortnite. His early accolades included a 13th-place finish in the 2019 World Championships and a first-place finish along with his teammate Domentos in the POG Duo Tournament in September 2019.
After that, FaZe Clan, one of the top teams in all of eSports, signed Mongraal in preparation for the Fortnite World Cup. Since then, Mongraal has continued to excel at many different games. However, his main revenue actually comes from streaming.
According to reports, Mongraal generates $730,000 per year from advertisements on his videos. He also receives an additional $270,000 per year from his approximate 9,000 paid subscribers on Twitch. Since making it big with his million-dollar Dookey Dash victory, fans have had many questions about the rising eSports star. For example, did Mongraal quit Fortnite? What kind of keyboard and mouse does he use? And of course, what is Mongraal’s real name and what is his net worth?
Mongraal is a professional gamer and streamer from the United Kingdom. He currently plays for FaZe Clan and recently won Yuga Lab’s Dookey Dash competition.
Mongraal’s real name is Kyle Jackson.
Mongraal is 18 years old and was born on August 13, 2004.
Mongraal was already famous in the eSports world before he won Yuga Labs’ Dookey Dash competition. Winning Dookey Dash, however, catapulted him onto another level of fame as the story went viral. He’s also a popular streamer known for his chill vibe and easygoing personality.
He has been a pro gamer for five years already. Mongraal’s first claim to fame was being one of the youngest Fortnite players ever signed to a professional eSports roster. After finding early success, he was called up to “the big leagues” when FaZe Clan signed him to a contract.
Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project, announced the beginning of Dookey Dash in February 2023. Bored Ape holders could compete for prizes by playing a runner-style game similar to Temple Run. Players who received high scores earned rarer NFTs and the top-place finisher won a 1/1 NFT featuring a Golden Key.
Mongraal dominated the competition. Not only did he win the top prize, but he also took home second place and many other top-20 scores. Mongraal initially listed the Golden Key for sale at 2,222 ETH (approximately $3.7m) and eventually accepted an offer for 1,000 ETH worth $1.6m at the time.
Professional gamers have surprisingly short careers. Studies have shown that our reactions peak in our teenage years, and so it’s not unusual to see top gamers retire in their early twenties. Mongraal stopped placing well in competitions and eventually lost his love for competitive Fortnite. He recently announced his retirement from the game but did mention he may play from time to time just for fun.
Mongraal uses a Logitech G402 for Fortnite and the Logitech G Pro X Superlight for VALORANT.
He uses a SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL keyboard. This mechanical keyboard allows him to adjust the “actuation distance” of each key. The ability allows for greater swiftness and precision during gameplay.
Streaming is a full-time job for the young gamer. Jackson streams himself playing Fortnite, VALORANT, Minecraft, Crab Game, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Rogue Company, MultiVersus, Call of Duty, and Halo. He is a fan favorite for his quick wit, unique playing style, and magnetic personality.
As of today, he has 5.4m followers on Twitch and 4.6m followers on YouTube. Both platforms offer significant income streams, partly thanks to his GFuel, Nissan, and Steelseries sponsorships.
Despite his success outside Web3, winning Dookey Dash gave the gamer his biggest payday to date. His $1.6m prize put the gaming industry on notice– NFT gaming is not just here to stay, it’s the future.
